Description: Vintage Western Stoneware Whiskey Shoulder Jug 3 Gallon Crock, Monmouth Illinois This is a vintage Western Stoneware whiskey shoulder jug with a 3 gallon capacity. The jug was made in Monmouth, Illinois, in the late 19th or early 20th century. This hard to find jug is made of brown and beige stoneware and has a rustic/primitive style. There are old visible cracks as pictured. These are old and don’t distract either structurally or esthetically. You can’t even feel these cracks if you run your hands over them. I am confident these cracks are not ready to break and with the exception of one are due pretty much to shrinkage. The large one may have had an earlier repair. If it was at all weak, I would not be willing to ship it. There is also one chip on the lip as pictured. The jug is clearly marked as pictured and is an original piece. This is a big and hard to find jug. Before this one I have only seen these jugs measuring up to 2 gallons. It measures 15” tall and 10“ across at the base. It’s going to look great in your collection. Shipping is fast, packed safe and as cheap as I can make it considering before I add packing materials it weighs a full 13 pounds Ask questions and make offers.
