Description: For your consideration is this lovely Revolving Sandwich Tray Lazy Susan produced by Rubel and Company of NYC. Advertisements began appearing for this piece in newspapers in 1951 (newspapers online document repository) and was called "Lazy Daisy". The piece is comprised of a brasstoned center stemmed handle, a brasstoned poinsettia shaped metal tray stabilizing apparatus, a hunter green lead crystal center, a silvertoned ball bearing apparatus, and a clear lead cystal base. The center stem will unscrew allowing for easy disassembly for storage. Originally the piece came with six leaf shaped sandwich plates that were inserted into notches in the hunter green center and the metal apparatus held them in place. Unfortunately, the plates have been separated from the lazy susan over the years and are not available for purchase through this listing. The Lazy Daisy turntable is not only hard to find in clear, but I was unable to locate any comps in this hunter green...making this indeed a rare find....replacements only shows in clear and there is no inventory available. The entire piece measures 6.1 inches in diameter (base) by 7.3 inches tall fully assembled and weighs 2 lbs 12.8 ounces. Originally, I thought this was a cigarette dispenser the way it is designed and could easily be used as such. The notches in the glass measure approximately 1/2 inch wide and in depth. Great item for Post-War Glass or Lead Crystal Collectors.Condition: Nice patina on the brasstoned pieces. No chips or cracks observed on the lead crystal, but did observe air bubbles suspended within the clear glass base. A little surface rust was observed on the ball bearing, much of it I was able to clean off and neutralize. It turns beautifully.
