Description: Vtg Griswold Cast Iron Pot No 8 Tite-Top Dutch Oven 1295 w/ Glass Lid This listing is for a Vintage Griswold Cast Iron Pot No 8 Tite-Top Dutch Oven 1295 with a Glass Lid; there is no “bail” handle. This is a very nice example of a Vintage Griswold Tite-Top cast iron Dutch Oven Pot with Glass Lid and would make a great addition to a Griswold Cast Iron collection. One owner; recovered from my parental home; likely from the 1920-30s era; mom used this to prepare many Pot roasts for our Sunday dinner. According to my dad; he purchased this item new and it came with a glass lid; he reported that it did not come with a bail handle; I cannot confirm these statements. The cast iron pot is identified on the bottom with a logo that consists of a circular design with “Griswold” imprinted in the center; this circular design is encircled by the following imprinted words / numbers: “Tite-Top Dutch Oven Erie PA., U.S.A”; also imprinted on the bottom pot: “Cast Iron, 8, 1295”; see photos. The cast iron pot is in nice condition; it has a smooth cooking surface; sits flat; it has a visible logo and markings that identify it; it has tab handles with a hold in each one. The pot does have a few imperfections on the external surface of the pot that appear to be flaws that might have occurred during the manufacturing process; Blue arrows in Photo #12 identify these areas. These imperfections should not impact the function or distract from the display value of this item. The Glass lid is made of a clear glass material; it is imprinted with “Pyrex” and “D-G 626C”. According to my dad this glass lid is the original lid for this cast iron dutch oven but I cannot confirm if this is true. This glass lid was the one my mom used when she prepared meals with this pot; the lid was found with the pot and it fits the pot. The glass lid has a very small chip on the edge of the internal surface on the lid; see photo #10. My mom reported that this chip did not interfere with the function of this item. Approximate Measurements: 9 7/8” Internal Diameter; 4” Depth; 12” Outside Diameter including handles; 7” Height including the glass lid.
