Description: This is my sister's butterfly, from an extensive collection she and my brother-in-law amassed over the decades in the US and abroad. The butterfly was stored for decades in a huge glass-door display case. It looks like there is some paint loss top tip of the right wing, which could be a very small shallow chip (last 2 photos). I can feel some drag moving my fingernail over it. The butterfly is blue with orange markings and a black and white border on the wings. Very detailed. You can see veining on the the wings both top and underneath. I believe this model was produced in the early 1940s. The butterfly is on a white plinth trimmed with gold paint, with painted on feet. The butterfly body is gray and pale green. Measurements: The wing span measures just over 3-3/4," about 3" top of the wing to the bottom, and the figure stands just over 1-3/4" tall. Marks: On the bottom is the underglaze Rosenthal with the crossed swords symbol and what looks like a mark at the bottom of the swords, Germany Munstabteilung Selb Handgemalt g. 1293 and impressed 1835 with a small 2. Shipping: I will ship wrapped in large cushion bubble wrap (LCBW) in a freezer bag with air, more LCBW around the bag placed in a larger freezer bag with more LCBW air, then more LCBW in a clean recycled box. Thanks for looking.
