Description: A Rockwell Kent Christmas Card. The back of the card has the following printed at the bottom: "from the Woodcut by Rockwell KentAmerican Artists Group, N.Y. No. 10332 Printed in U.S.A." The front has the Kent artwork, with his printed signature, on a field of green which also contains the word "Greetings". Inside is a traditional card inscription: "Season's Greetings and best wishes for a Happy New Year" followed by three small stars, all printed in a green print matching the front of the card. The sender of the card has their name written on the bottom of the card in a black ink. The card measures 5.5"x4.25". No envelope. The card was found laid in to a souvenir photography book from Maine at an estate sale. The book gift inscription and other items laid in are dated from Christmas, 1947, so that is my best guess as when the card was used. I tried without luck to find the artwork on Google in any format. I finally found it pictured in a book called "Rockwellkentiana" from 1933 (from a for-sale copy on eBay). It was listed on a page headlined "1929" with a caption saying it was a drawing for a Scribner's cover. Further web searching found that a colored version of this wood cut was featured on the January, 1929 issue of Scribner's magazine. Links to research on request. See the photos for additional insight into the condition of this beautiful card.
