After his business partners died, he started a business of his own in December 1874. Adderley's porcelain and earthenware items were manufactured at the Daisy Bank Pottery, Longton, Stoke-on-Trent, England. In 1886, the company was renamed W. A. Adderley & Co. and in 1906, Adderleys Ltd. According to the backstamp history, this bowl beard the Lyons Trade Mark indicating it was made between 1875 and 1885.
