Description: These beads are an outstanding example of German beadmaking. Old beads made the old way by making a long tube then breaking into small sections and polishing into beads. The beads in this lot are a beautiful yellow over the white “heart” at the center. Hand made in the 1950’s, this color is one of the “old” colors that designers who make old west jewelry, mountain man jewelry, Native American regalia, and so on always like because of the authenticity. They measure about 9mm around by 6mm tall and the hole is about 3mm in diameter. The colors are slightly transparent so you can see into the bead to the white center. Very special beads! Like any hand made bead, these are not all identical. There are slight variations in size and shape that is common and expected in this type of old bead. Some of the beads have what looks like a crack which is under the final layer of glass and will cause no problems. That is part of their unique nature.
