Warren was the first Dean of Harvard University Medical School. Warren served as a founding member of Massachusetts General Hospital. Warren founded the New England Journal of Medicine. Dr. Warren's father was Dr. John Warren an American Revolutionary Surgeon who would found Harvard Medical School. Warren's brother was Dr. Joseph Warren the hero of Revolutionary Boston.
