The Haxby Obsolete Banknote Catalog number for this note is: NY-3000-G2a. I believe that his note’s serial number is: 377, Plate B, and has penned signature of the Cashier: E.J. Hanks and a printed signature the President: E. Clapp. The printed date of April 15th, 1863 appears on this note. According to Haxby, this bank lasted from 1862 – 1866. This Banknote is printed in 1 Color Black, by National Bank Note Company. The central vignette depicts an Eagle perched on a round Shield with “1” at center. Sailor sits on Bale of Hay left side and Indian holding a Bow on right side. New York State Seal at lower left. Mother hugs young Child at lower right. The reverse of this note is unprinted. This note has a round punch cancel (1/8” x 1/8”) in the central vignette along with 35 scattered pinholes all of which are microscopic. The note has some light dirt from years of circulation, visible on both sides of the note. There are a few notations on the back of the note, one in black pen, one in red pencil and others are in pencil. Over all this is a very pleasing example of a 159 year old Obsolete Banknote. I grade this note as a solid Fine. Please look the scans over carefully and judge the quality of the note for yourself before bidding!
